Ultra Lite 1 & 2 Innovation


The Ultra Lite Solar innovation greatly simplifies the CSP manufacturing design by using a simplified light-weight structure made possible using differential air pressure as a structural component. Instead of using rigid glass mirrors, light-weight mirror material is used. This concentrated solar power material can be of almost any composition such as a polymer, thin glass, or metal and can be as thin as a few thousandths of an inch thick. A top opposing transparent film forms an air envelope. Air pressure achieves the contour of the reflective film shape. Fibre-glass end- caps seal the envelope. A small percentage of 1 PSI makes the film as tight as a drum and resistant to wind distortions. Additionally, we provide CSP process heating to ensure you have the best source of effective heating sources.

The UL2 uses a conventional heavy-gauge torque tube, while the UL1 uses a thin-walled, light-weight support tube that is strengthened with air pressure within its structure. Up to 15 PSI of pressure considerably stiffens the support tube. Not only that, we also provide solar enhanced oil recovery services to extract various types of energy solutions. With the resulting decrease in materials and costs, it now becomes economically possible to build much larger solar fields to store enough energy for overnight power generation. Other benefits of Ultra Lite for your concentrated solar manufacturing solutions include:

  • Laminar flow design, minimizing wind loading compared to open reflector designs.
  • The reflection layer is internal to the structure in a controlled dry air atmosphere, prolonging reflective surface lifetime.
  • Lower-cost linear receivers can be used for lower temperature applications.

Ultra Lite 5


The Ultra Lite 5 (UL5) is the most heavy-duty concentrated solar power construction of the Ultra-Lite Series, capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions and high winds. The UL5 is a mid-size concentrator suitable for ground mount and roof mount on commercial/industrial buildings rated to take the gravity and wind loads.
